Exam preparations are essential to ensure the best performance possible and consequently support the best possible result on the day!
We all know how exams can generate anxiety and stress, so being well prepared and having a structured revision plan will allow you to seat your exams with a clear mind.
So it is highly recommended to start the revision process in advance, as early as possible to avoid becoming overwhelmed!

Keep a close eye on....
Your well-being comes first!
Your diet
Your sleep
Your motivation
Share our problems and struggles and above all be kind to yourself,
Make sure you have some down time, some revision free time!
Well-being, ask yourself 3 simple questions:
How happy are you? Rate the your factor H on a scale of 1 to 10
How confident are you? Rate the your factor Cf on a scale of 1 to 10
How in control are you? Rate the your factor Ct on a scale of 1 to 10
Well-being - go beyond... be the change you thrive to see!
What one thing can you do, today, to push the scale further?
Even the smallest thing can make a big change! Go for it and bring some positivity into your life, remember the exam period has an end and there is always light at the end of the tunnel.
How does it work?
- If your factor H 'happiness' is 5, what could you do today to push it to 6?
- Start thinking about what makes you happy, a walk in the park, taking the dog out, having an ice-cream ....
- If your factor Cf 'confident' is 3, what could you do today to push it to 4?
- Start thinking about what would push your confort zone, "create a mind-map of your concerns". “This can help to clear your mind and identify where your lack of confidence is coming from. Get a big piece of paper and some felt tips and get it off your mind as you write. Don’t try to edit your thoughts; just get them onto the paper, however small or daft they might seem. This will help your subconscious to identify your true feelings.” [Anoushka Bonwick, projects and relationships officer at Student Minds]. Take it from there.
- If your factor Ct 'control' is 5, what could you do today to push it to 6?
- Start thinking about what will make you more in control, such as get organized, plan your revisions, get a diary/a planner where you will specifically note down when and what you will revise .....
"Gold, Gold Always believe in your soul You've got the power to know You're indestructible, always believe in, 'cos you are Gold!" Spandau Ballet
Your diet matters as it will impact on your concentration!
Eat well and drink plenty!
Have some healthy snacks at the ready for when you are feeling peckish but you don't want to stop your revisions just yet.
Have a bottle of water with you. If water gets boring, try some water infusers (I personally love the Twinings infusers) or add some fruits to give it a fruity taste.
Get some good night sleep!
Sleeping and rest will help you retain information, even napping can help consolidate your memories, so staying up all night to revise probably isn't a good idea.
Keep motivated and create your revision space!
This is when positive thinking comes very handy!
Think about what you have already achieved! Although it seams like a hard time, project yourself in the future ... maybe your summer holidays, some end of your celebrations with your friends.
I always advise my students to create a 'after-eaxam positive mood board' to be placed in their bedroom to constantly remind them of a happy/exciting things to come.
Don't forget to, every so often, to look through your window - this will help your yes relax from the computer screen or your notes.
Group revision can also keep you motivated so long as this technique suits you.
Revisions can get dull so create a comfortable and quiet revision space, this will allow you to concentrate and forget about the distraction such as emails, messages, phones ... etc
Share your problems and struggles and above all be kind to yourself!
When you’re feeling overwhelmed, it’s easy to hide away. But the simple act of sharing your worries with peers can make a world of difference. We’re usually our own worst critics. Congratulate yourself for every action you take; success is built from many little achievements and your confidence will grow with each step.
Make sure you have some downtime!
Don't overload yourself with work, you should spread out your revision rather than cramming! Starting early will give you plenty of time to do your revisions but also to have some relaxing time, you must let your brain and mind unwind.
